Aspiring Farm Manager/ Contract Milking

Aspiring Farm Manager or Contract Milking, 600 Cows

Our client seeks an aspiring Farm Manager (moving up Herd Manager) or Contract Milker for their 600 cow spring calving Friesian/Friesian-cross herd.

Located 25 km north of Whangarei this is a tidy, well resourced dairy business. Infrastructure and machinery is modern and well maintained. Facilities include a 50 bale rotary with ACRs, Protrack, in-shed feeding and herd homes.

With inputs of maize silage and PKE production is consistently around the 243,000 kgMS mark from the 250 ha platform.

This is an ideal role for a farming couple looking to step into management, with two full-time roles being available. Contract milking is also an option. Key responsibilities include herd and pasture management – milk harvesting, animal health, mating and the feeding of pastures and supplements.

You will be well organised and have the experience to manage the herd through calving and mating with only the oversight of the herd owner. We are looking for conscientious, best-practice animal husbandry and record keeping. You will be capable of safely operating the farm machinery and day-to-day farm maintence.

Dairy industry qualifications including farm safety are preferred, and you will need good numeracy, literacy and communication skills.

The on-farm accommodation is a lovely modern family home on the school bus route and a private, warm two bedroom home with carport and lockable bike shed/storage.
